Hike #2 will take place on November 7th and the meeting place will be the first parking lot off to the left as you enter Beckley Creek Park off Shelbyville Road as part of the Parklands. The easy walk will be an approximately 1.25-mile loop largely on paved sidewalk, the challenge hike will add 1.87 of the Coppice Woods trail, this is an easier intermediate trail involving some ups and downs as opposed to the flat trail we did today. If you do both of these, you will end up putting in about 3 miles The trail part of this hike will be a good place to try using hiking poles. Let me know if you need them; I have a few extra that I can bring. As the mornings are cool, we will not start the hikes until 10 a.m. giving it a chance to warm up. I suggest arriving 15 minutes early to park, use the restroom and to have a meet and greet before we start.
Future walking and hiking sites may include: The Anchorage Trail (we can go to lunch after this one). The Botanical Garden (new trails to visitor center and along Bear Grass Creek
The Moss Gibbs Garden in Broad Bend Park Hunting Creek Trails
By spring time, we could be in shape to do longer trails at Bernheim Forest or Jefferson Forest
Thanks to the following inaugural hikers: Judy, Dottie, Meena, Marilyn, Connie and Estelle; as well as potential future members Nancy and Barbara. We even had a woman come up and ask if she could join our group off to a great start! Mary Helen Davis mhdavis610@aol.com 502-262-2351
