Report - WCUL Pen Pal Program
The newly formed WCUL Pen Pal Program has sixteen members participating with four Assisted Living Homes. Most correspondence is going well, and members are enjoying their new pen pals. We are searching for more senior women who are alone or quarantined and who would enjoy correspondence with one of our pen pals. If you know of such a woman, or an Assisted Living Facility that might welcome this opportunity for their residents, please contact me, Judy Hardwick, at JCDHardwick@gmail.com.
Let’s give our thanks and appreciation to our members who are so ably representing this club as Pen Pals: Sandy Spears, Marilyn Keys, Joan Hagedorn, Ona Owens, Betty Keller, Dotty Losey, Meena Deshpande, Laura Parrott, Mary Helen Davis, Arlette McDaniels, Dana Sonnheim, Louisa Davis, Christian Furman, Louise McKinney, Lucy Knight and Judy Hardwick. Have a healthy and happy 2021 and may we all be able to come together soon.
We meet on the last Monday of the month, at the Bistro at the Masonic Homes Campus. Lunch is from 11:30-12:30, and Bridge is played from 12:30-3:30.
We meet on the third Tuesday of the month at various restaurants that meet the following criteria: good food, reasonable prices, and easy parking.
The WCUL Book Discussion Group meets at 10:00 a.m. the 3rd Wednesday, September through May (none in December). We get together in a member’s home, enjoy refreshments, and discuss the month’s book. In 2017, we experimented with summer meetings at 5:00 in June, July, and August, and it’s likely we’ll continue the summer meetings. You are always welcome to join us even if you did not get around to reading the book...
Cooking classes are held on the third Wednesday of the month starting at 10AM at the home of one of our members. Class size is limited to 30 members. Reservations over 30 will be placed on a wait list and those members contacted in case of a cancellation. Cost: $20.
MOVIE AND KOFFEE KLATCH meets of the second Tuesday of each month beginning in September and ending in May. Members volunteer to select a movie each month and lead the discussion afterward. They try to make a selection that will be both interesting and produce a good discussion. The person selecting the movie also announces the theater and time, which is in the early afternoon. The chairperson notifies the members who are interested. If you love the movies you will love this group. We have a wonderful time and the discussions following the event are fun, interesting, and stimulating. It is also a wonderful way to get to know members on a more personal basis. Come and join us, we would love to have you as a part of our group.
